“GAZA.MP4” is a meditation on the mundanity of hope in the aftermath of the war on Gaza post-7th October 2023. The video portrays scenes of daily life in Gaza through the lens of a disrupted communication between two friends, Diaa and Mohannad. Diaa requests filmmaker Mohannad to use his phone to capture raw visual materials during his displacement journey from Gaza, Khan Yunis, and Rafah since October. Mohammad’s compliance cements a bond forged during their student days and addresses the phenomenon of data clouding and transferring through alternative channels like Telegram. Using the chat window as a visual element to evoke a sense of our modern anxiety and the relentless pace induced by ADHD, the footage is received and processed by Diaa.

The Endless Summer Revisited

A documentary mostly edited together from unused footage from The Endless Summer and The Endless Summer II, this documentary gives further insight into the making and success of the original classic surf documentary. It is written, produced and directed by Dana Brown, son of the director of the first two films, Bruce Brown (who executive produced this film). This film likely will appeal only to hardcore fans of the Endless Summer films, but it does feature more of the gorgeous cinematography for which the earlier films are famous. She is courting by many men, buts he is in love with Ernesto, a young man whose parents are against their relationship. Ernesto invites Raquel to a party at his home but she is snubbed by his mother and offended by a slighted pretender. Ernesto faces this man in a duel in which he is about to be killed by his rival, but Raquel protects his body and receives the bullet. She dies in Ernesto's arms.
